PRINCETON x NJIT ROBOTICS (NOVEMBER 5 TH)
KPMI is bringing together robotics communities from New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and Princeton University to create an exciting engineering learning opportunity for students at Bridgewater-Raritan High School (BRHS).
Through this collaboration, students will have the opportunity to connect with university robotics members, explore competitive robotics, and learn about the engineering and programming concepts behind real-world robotic systems. Topics may include robotics design, sensors, autonomous systems, programming, and the technical challenges involved in building and improving robots.
The workshop aims to give BRHS students insight into university-level engineering projects, encourage hands-on technical learning, and help students learn directly from university students who share their passion for robotics and innovation.
By connecting high school students with robotics communities at NJIT and Princeton, KPMI hopes to strengthen mentorship, inspire future engineers, and make advanced STEM learning more accessible beyond the classroom.
Workshop date and additional details will be announced once finalized.

KPMI — Knowledge, Programming, Mentorship & Innovation
MISSION STATMENT-KPMI (Knowledge Programming Mentorship Innovation) is a student-led initiative dedicated to providing hands-on STEM education through interactive workshops and mentorship. Our mission is to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world engineering by giving students direct exposure to robotics, programming, and practical innovation.
KPMI operates locally in New Jersey and has expanded internationally, with workshops conducted in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The organization is actively building connections with schools across Tamil Nadu and universities across the United States, while planning future collaborations with schools, universities, and institutions in Canada.
Bringing hands-on robotics and engineering workshops to schools across New Jersey, Arduino-based learning.
Official LTB Chapter Partnership
“KPMI is an official Learn to Be (LTB) Chapter Partnership, connecting students with tutoring opportunities and verified volunteer hours.
Top fan-favourite projects
KPM V4B— Sensor Intelligence
Upgrade: Ultrasonic sensor mounted on servo with “look-before-move” logic
Problem: Detected walls but missed floor-level obstacles
Fix: Learned importance of sensor placement and chassis geometry
Lesson: Mechanical design directly affects software performance
KPM-navigate-WG2
IR sensors on fingertips: Directional awareness
Flame sensor: Heat detection
Ultrasonic sensor (top): Redundant backup if IR fails
Outcome: Fast to deploy, durable, intuitive UX
In-built alarm system and vibration sensor.
Lesson: Technology must adapt to users, not the other way around.
KPM navigate-WG1
Design: Full wearable jacket prototype.
Problem: The material was too delicate and the jacket was very hard to put on.
Outcome: Proved the concept but lacked the durability and ease of use needed for a final piece.
Lesson: A design is only good if the user can actually wear it easily.
more upgrades added on from KPM-navigate-WG2
with more lights and better alarm system .
